what I wear on my scooter
Published by Crystal June 14th, 2006 in apparel, cold weather riding, helmets, hot weather riding, pink stuff, safety. My niece Liza and I are planning a long-distance scooter trip this fall, and in preparation, we’ve been talking about what kind of equipment she should get. I started to put together a graphic of what I wear on my scooter, and once I got started, I thought I’d go all out and make a graphic that I could post on here:

This picture is of a spring/summer/fall outfit. Even if it’s hot, I wear long pants, gloves, a jacket, and full-face helmet. I have an armored mesh jacket that I wear when it’s super hot, and my helmets have good vents. In winter, I put away the summer gloves and wear lined, waterproof gloves; I add a windproof neck warmer, and wear a lined leather/textile jacket. I usually wear long-johns, too, and use a ScooterSkirt or lap apron.

Since I wrote this article, I’ve been on the search for armored pants for both summer and winter wear.
Hola!
I’m seriously considering getting a scooter in Mexico when I’m down for 4 weeks in February. It’s hot! Temps will be in the mid 80s to mid 90s with humidity as well. The roads basically suck so I’m looking at a People 125 for the 16 inch wheels to handle rough roads.
I’m concerned about hot weather clothing. Do you have any recommendations for a mesh jacket that works well in HOT weather?

my brother mentioned another reason for over-the-ankle boots, besides burning your ankles on the engine- apparently when you fall on a bike your ankles are the first to hit & drag on the road, on a motorcycle at least
ouch!
