site update/upgrade
Published by Crystal August 30th, 2006 in news & gossip.August 27 - If you can’t get to girlbike in the next few days or it looks a bit wacky, it’s because I’m switching servers and switching blog publishing software. My goal is to add more search capabilities, better categorization, and an all-over better experience for you. Wish me luck! I need it!

update August 29 - I’ve found out the hard way that the “easy” transfer of files from Blogger over to WordPress isn’t as easy as the press of a button (as the site says it is). After a few hours of trying to use the auto import with repeated error messages, I gave up and started manually transfering files here. About 50 of the girlbike > scooter posts are now here, and I’ve been working on refining post categories. The design is almost where I want it, but it takes me a lot of trial and error. When I need a break from CSS and trying to figure out WordPress syntax (it took freekin’ forever to figure out how to get the content from the third column into the second), I’ve also started porting over a few of the many, many, MANY links I have on girlbike > scooters into the right hand column. It’s a good time to do some cleaning - I’ve been updating links and getting rid of links that don’t work any more as I insert them. :::yawn::: I’m off to sleep now… 1:30 a.m. and I’ve got to rest the few brain cells I have left… (thanks for the good wishes, Wendy!) - Crystal
update August 30 - OK — all the links are accounted for, the search function is raring to go, and a good chunk of posts are over here now. I’m still not happy with the “categories” section - either I think they are too vague, or there are too many, so I keep changing them around. Luckily, if you can’t find what you want under “categories,” just search! So far I’ve been really happy with the site-search functions (except I somehow ended up with two search boxes instead of one…). I’ve also updated the “about” page. If you can’t find an article or posting, please remember I’m a one-person show and I’m doing this all manually. There are well over 200 postings and articles on girlbike > scooters alone, and each needs attention. Don’t worry, they’ll all get here. Thanks for your patience. - Crystal

testing comments
Thought I’d help by adding a comment in case you needed a “test” from a reader! Good luck with your transition, Crystal. Looking forward to reading your new blog pages soon. Girlbike is a great site. Wishing you every success.

Hey Crystal,
I am now the proud owner of a beautiful Metro. But I have a head full of hot pink hair, and I defintiely need a pink helmet. I thought I saw a page where you posted all of the pink helmets together but now I can’t find it. Is this possibly because of the website switch over? If so, can I petition for a reposting of that article? Because I just won’t feel safe until I’m riding in a hot-pink full face!
First of all, girlbike.com has helped me so much on my path to scooterdom. Thank you so much. You’re providing an amazing public service. Its the best scooter site on the net, believe me, I’ve looked.
Thanks, and keep up the good scootin’!
