gift idea: a scooter movie classic

If you love scooters and you’ve never seen Quadrophenia, now’s the time. And if you haven’t figured out what to get for your best scooter friend, then buy this movie (on sale for half price at Amazon - $12.47). Starring Phil Daniels and many, many, many cool mod rides.
I have to say that I’m relieved to see that the cover of the DVD has Jimmy on the front, rather than Sting’s character, Ace Face, that was highlighted on the VHS version. While the movie is in fact Sting’s acting debut, it bothers me (maybe too much) when Sting is touted as the “star,” when he has like four lines in it (I know, I know, maybe it’s not a big deal, but I think Sting is about as good of an actor as Keanu Reeves on a bad day. Did you see him in Dune? Horrid! And I’m one of the few people I know who likes that movie. But I digress. As usual.). The character of Ace Face is a powerful symbol, but it’s Daniel’s performance that makes the film a classic. That, and the scooters, of course.

Quadrophenia is also available for rent on Netflix.com, and the album is yet another classic. The cover photo is awesome.

Sounds like Keanu did a great job in The Lake House. I am sure my wife will want to see that one. She always wants to see chick flicks. I would never see these movies by myself. But I end up liking them.
You’re right, I just saw this movie and I thought he did a great job. Good movie!
