Scooter Apparel & Accessory Buying Frenzy - Confessions of An Addict
Published by Soozn June 17th, 2007 in accessories, apparel.Well it’s either a grateful “thanks” to Crystal here at Girlbike and to Marilou of the Yahoo Vino125 Girls forum for my latest helmet and apparel purchases or “curses” to them for tempting me so badly to empty my wallet and re-activate that paid off credit card.
I have been wanting a modular style helmet for a while. My near 4 year scooter experience has been riding 95 % of the time with an HJC CL -33 3/4 style helmet, the other 5% with an Icon Alliance FF that I picked up for a fabulous price through NewEnough.
I know a FF is safer, but I wear eyeglasses all the time and found the FF affected my peripheral vision when riding in town. I also enjoy sipping water at stops when riding in this dry Colorado climate. I found Crystal’s post about the Vox Modular and the review by someone who compared this helmet favorably to an HJC Symax. The price seemed right, so I ordered one in Blue to match my Blue Yamaha Vino 125.
I would love to buy locally, but my local motorcycle stores have a very limited selection o
f helmets. After viewing their selection, you would think helmets only came in black or white with the occasional silver tossed in for good measure. I took a fairly long ride with this helmet last weekend 45 miles each way and yes indeed, I really like this modular helmet
And the buying frenzy continues….. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Joe Rocket Atomic Jeans in black (er, thanks Crystal for the heads up deal alert) and two new jackets made by Tourmaster, the Trinity and Indigo Denim. I have two Joe Rocket Reactor jackets (one leather/textile and one perforated leather/mesh) that I really like, but wanted something a bit more stylish. (Yes, I am a slave to scooter fashion and obviously a lapsed member of Scooter Accessorizers Anonymous). The Trinity comes in pink, light blue, black & silver. I really like how it flares out in the back. Being a blueaholic–I just had to have it in light blue to match my Vino 125 and Sky color Metropolitan.

The Tourmaster Indigo Denim jacket seems as though it will not only be a great riding jacket, but nice for casual wear as well. I will follow up with a report on these jackets once they arrive.
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention the Yamaha chrome rear panel trim for my Vino 125 that I just bought from Motorsport Scooters and the chrome trim from AutoZone I added to the front fender.
More, later.

I recently got the Tourmaster denim jacket for the main purpose of sewing my lovely Charm City Scooter Club back patch and assorted rally patches onto it. The jacket is better than expected for the price and the fit is really good. I didn’t care for the embroidered “Tourmaster” in script on the sleeves so I just covered them up with patches.
Armored denim? Never occurred to me.
Maybe I’d better go back and look at those denim jackets on eBay again.
The Trinity is gorgeous. I was about to say “Too bad it’s leather,” then looked again and realized that it’s not leather at all.
Damn you, sooz. Making me lust after scooter style.
Denise — the Denim jacket rocks!! It’s less than $100 with free shipping at several online stores. You MUST buy it!
You’ve got it already, sooz? Where’s the full report?
And where did you get yours?
And do I really need *another* scootin’ jacket if I have a mesh one and an Olympia AirGlide?
Denise– full report is now posted. Do you need another jacket? What kind of question is that? You are a Scooter Diva, of course you do!! :))
