I always love to hear stories of scooterists who ride for a good cause. Recently Cara, one of the moderators and founding members of the Vino 125 Girls scooter club, wrote about a fundraising event put on by her local Albuquerque, NM scooter group, the Scoodidos. Here’s some of what she posted about the event:
“For several weeks our group members have been collecting donations for a lady named Patricia and her 2 year old son, Wyatt. On September 30th they lost their home and all their belongings to a propane fire/explosion. They both suffered 2nd degree burns on their bodies. Since the loss of their home, they have finally been able to move into a small rental house. The Scoodidos did a [toy collection] run and we all had to bring a toy for Wyatt. We also raised approximately $500 in cash, checks, and gift cards. One of our members followed us in his full size van, which we had full of donated furniture, clothing, toys, books, and household furnishings. The little boy, Wyatt, is so sweet. You can still see a little bit of scarring on his face from his burns but with time I’m sure they will fade and he is going to be a little lady’s man with his big blue eyes.
“This by far has been one of the most rewarding activities the Scoodidos has participated in. I realized today that in a time of need how generous mankind really is and that we can never give up hope on each other.”

Cara and the Scoodidos are a great example of what we can do in and for our communities with or without our scooters. Thank you Cara and the Scoodidos for being an inspiration! And best of luck to Wyatt and his family.
