making Vespa GT top-case panels reflective
Published by Crystal July 21st, 2006 in how-to, safety, scooters, upgrades & performance.
I had written about how I’d made my GIVI top case faux reflector into a real reflector back in June, and received a number of letters from readers thanking me for the tip.
A reader, Chris Carroll, wrote to tell me he’d followed my example for his Vespa GT top case, and I’ve posted his photos and experience over on Vespaway.
While Chris’ example is GT-top-case specific, and my experience was with a GIVI trunk, I’m guessing this process would work with any top case or other fake reflector as long as you are careful about removing and re-installing the plastic panels. Some have small plastic protruding bits that fit into grooves that might easily break; some, like the Vespa panels, require a light touch on the screwdriver so that you don’t crack the panels when re-installing.
Good luck on your project if you decide to take this on. And thank you, Chris, for sharing your photos and tips.

Hello, I’m a recent scooter owner and loving it. Great site! I read the article to convert the GT top case plastic to a reflector, but I did not see where I can get the material to insert under the plastic. Can you tell me where to get this? I tried eBay without luck…
Thanks,
