random scooter sighting: TravelSmith catalog

I got this TravelSmith catalog in the mail this week, and I had to share the cover with you (click on the picture for a larger image). Nowhere in the catalog do they sell scooter-related clothing, nor could I find any other scooter pics inside, but I thought it was cool that they used this photo to evolke the feeling of the romance of travel.
Speaking of travel, my sisters and I may be changing our trip to Italy to a trip to the UK, so I’ve been scouting out scooter rental places. How about this, or this? Oh yeah… and I have to sell my sisters on learning to ride (and love) scooters. That might take awhile.

The biggest adjustment for all of you will be riding on what we think of as the “wrong” side of the road. Luckily, there are many sparsely-travelled back roads off the beaten tourist path. A mantra I was taught many years ago served me well: “Keep left, look right.” Chant it as you drive/ride, you’ll be fine. The roundabouts aren’t a big deal, either, as they’re well-signed (some even have traffic signals) and drivers are generally courteous and relaxed outside of major metro areas.
Have fun!
this is actually by a super talented artist that we represent where i work- his name is beppe giacobbe, and he’s a fab illustrator from italy. he does tons of travelsmith covers and i’m pretty sure it’s a travelling lifestyle magazine, but he’s given scooters love before
check out his work at http://www.morgangaynin.com/giacobbe/, and more scoots from don kilpatrick >> http://www.morgangaynin.com/kilpatrick & leo espinosa >> http://drawger.com/studioespinosa/?section=gallery&gallery_id=57&
