For the kids: Roll a mini scooter under the tree

It’s becoming a classic: The Vespa from Peg Perego still has high customer ratings and a lower price this year. Recommended for kids 36 months to 7 years old and up to 85 pounds, the built-to-scale Vespa Granturismo copy runs on a 12 volt rechargeable battery and has a top speed of 5 mph.
For the older kids, the Razor Pocket Mod Bella, Betty and other models are a popular choice, and I see them more often in stores.
Sized for kids up to 12 years old and 150 pounds, the Razor Pocket Mod has claimed speeds of 15 miles per hour. Check out the video hosted on Amazon.
And, of course, there’s the ever popular Chicco Vespa scooter for the itsy bitsy ones. Remember the adorable picture of Lesley’s son Nicky?
Sized for the wee ones, the Chicco is meant for kids up to 3 years old, runs on D batteries, and even has its own club.
Please remember - these may be toys, but put a helmet on your child’s head, no matter where they are riding their new scooter - in the living room, on the driveway, on a bike path… even if you think they may not “need” them. I hope they never do, but why risk it? At the very least it teaches them an important safety habit, and it could save their life.
