girlbike “new to you” giveaway 7: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Published by Cara February 10th, 2008 in books & online resources, giveaway.About a year ago or so, Crystal posted a book giveaway on the Vino 125 Girls Yahoo! group. I was the lucky first responder. The book is called ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE An Inquiry Into Values by Robert M. Pirsig. The book shows some signs of wear; after all it is copyrighted 1974.
I have tried starting this book numerous times; however, because of school, work, and my inability to stay awake whenever I pick up a paperback, I am passing it on to a lucky girlbike frequenter.
Post your comments stating why you would like to be the lucky recipient of this book. If you are chosen, I will ship the book to you at no charge. Good luck and happy reading!
Here’s an excerpt from the author, Robert M. Pirsig:
“The real cycle you’re working on is a cycle called ‘yourself.’ “
“The study of the art of motorcycle maintenance is really a miniature study of the art of rationality itself. Working on a motorcycle, working well, caring, is to become part of a process, to achieve an inner piece of mind. The motorcycle is primarily a mental phenomenon.”
Just like previous giveaways, there are no strings attached, just leave a comment on this post telling us why you’d like it. You’ll have to wait to have your comment approved if you’ve never left a comment here before (to prevent spam comments). We’ll pick the winner Saturday, February 16, post the lucky person’s name here, and then you’ll need to send us your mailing address (don’t post it in the comment). If we don’t hear from you by Thursday, February 21, it goes to the next person. Good luck!

Editor’s note: Do you have something scooter or motorcycle related that’s in great shape but you don’t want it any more? Maybe you don’t want to just throw it out, but are too lazy to put it up on ebay? Are you willing to pay shipping to give it a good home and to make another girlbike.com reader happy? Write to me at crystal
girlbike.com and tell me about it and maybe we’ll have another new-to-you giveaway featuring your item!

Oooh, ooooh, pick me, Cara, pick me!!! I’ve actually always wanted to read that book, and somehow just never gotten around to it. If I were to win it I would feel a moral obligation to read it and then pass it along to someone else. I get the whole ‘read nothing but textbooks’ thing - I was in that boat for seven long years while I got my BA and MA while working 60 hrs/week. I frequently remark to my dear hubby that Life Without Homework is a truly glorious thing…aaaahhhhhh! One more bonus - the shipping would be REALLY cheap! BIG GRIN!

Pick me Pick me!!! Because my husband was raised in Lemmon SD and it’s in the book. And though they don’t mention it by name, Chris, John and Sylvia camp that night at Shadehill Reservoir. I no longer have my personal copy, lent it out a few years ago. Thanks,
Susan
