GIVI T409I got an email from a reader, Louise, who had a great idea: She has a really cool GIVI tank bag, the T409, that she doesn’t have room for (Louise and her husband live in an RV, read about their adventures), so she wrote to me and asked if maybe I thought another girlbike reader might want it.

Louise writes, “I used to ride a Suzuki SV650 with a metal tank and this little bag served as a chic purse as well as securely mounted tank bag. My current ride is a Honda Metropolitan, however, and of course the body work is all plastic. So, I’m looking to get rid of the GIVI.”

So, any one of you can have this gently used cool tank bag for free. Even if you don’t have a motorcycle, you can hang it from a helmet hook.

Louise describes the bag:

“This bag makes a great purse for the daily bike-riding, uber-chic gal. Just stick it to your metal gas tank, clip the strap around your handlebars for extra security, and go! When you arrive at your destination, unclip, unstick, sling the strap over your shoulder and saunter away. They’ll wonder, ‘Where DID she get that wonderful bag? Is it Gucci? Prada?’ Nope, its GIVI.”

  • GIVI T409 Magnetic Day Bag
  • Semi-rigid dome shaped bag covered in black cordura
  • 10 inches long, 8 inches wide, 4 inches deep
  • Ever-so-gently used
  • Two-way zipper 90 percent around
  • Permanent small handle at top
  • Detachable long strap on sides
  • 2 inner pockets, one open, one zippered mesh
  • Four strong magnets in base to grip your tank (don’t put your credit cards right on the magnets! They are safe in the zippered inner pocket, though)
  • Sleek metal oval GIVI tag

Are there strings attached? Well, not really. It doesn’t cost you a cent because Louise has offered to pay shipping to a winner in the U.S. Of course, we need to know that you want it, so you’ll need to let us know by leaving a comment here on this girlbike post. To make it fun, tell us a story - say, 300 words or less - about, say, your dream trip. Louise and hubby are living their dream trip in their 40-foot bus. I tried a dream trip this summer, riding my scooter to Vermont. Have you ever thought of doing something like this? Or have you already? We’ll do a random drawing of all entries on Sunday, October 7, and then contact the winner for your mailing address (don’t post it in the comment).

Here are some pics Louise sent to me of her bag. Click on any one of them for a close-up photo. The GIVI T409 has a list price of $54.00, and more info can be found here on the catalog page at Twisted Throttle.

Note: if you’re allergic to cats, you may not be a good candidate for this giveaway. :-)

Are you doing some fall cleaning? Have you found something scooter or motorcycle related that you don’t want to just throw out, but are too lazy to put up on ebay? Are you willing to pay shipping to give it a good home and to make another girlbike.com reader happy? Write to me at crystalat.gifgirlbike.com and tell me about it and maybe we’ll have another new-to-you giveaway.

Hi, I am interested in the Tank Bag. I ride a 650 Burgman and we do alot of traveling in the summer. I ride it when ever I can. I am new to the 650 size. I rode a 250 reflex for about 3 years. This has been a whole lot more bike and power. My husband rides a motorcycle so I needed more power to keep up and for freeway riding. I am 53 years old and I love it. You are never to old to ride. I’m writing to ask you not to send the bag to me. I’m just happy to be here as a reader and future scooterist. If you come across armored clothing or gloves…those I would gladly accept.

Thanks for the cool info and for the helpful links. I actually found you from Just Gotta Scoot.

My blogs - not scooter related, but still fairly esoteric, fun and intelligent (unless I just misspelled esoteric) are…

Keep up the good work. *I’ll let you know what I get for a scooter. It’s been narrowed to a Zuma, a Key West, a Buddy or something else. I live in the Boston area, so as it gets colder there’s less frantic shopping and more measured research going on.

    Best,

    Jeff

    Hi
    What cool idea.

My husband and I are in love with motorcycles and recently we finally convinced my daughter Alex, who just turned 12(his step daughter) to go on her first ride with him. Well now I am guess I am kind of screwed as she wants to ride all the time.
We are currently trying to get all her gear in order and have been borrowing from friends that are her wee size.
We would love to have the bag and give it to her as a congrats gift for falling in love bikes as we have.

    Thanks a bunch

Hello to Louise! I’d say “come visit again” but this is the wrong time of year.

I’ve been riding since 1991. My current “touring” bike is an early 1990s Ducati 750SS. I try to take at least one long, solo ride every summer. I constantly hear “you can’t tour on that.” Oh, really?!??

So, I’d like to do a cross country tour on something that is very “unsuitable” for touring. Maybe an old Yamaha SR250, just like my first bike. I really like the idea of riding backroads and dirt roads, meeting people along the way and camping wherever I feel like stopping for the night. Now I’m a student again, I have all summer to ride and explore.

    Yippee!
