day one: on the road, 183 miles
Published by Crystal August 21st, 2007 in Long Haul to the Last Mile Ride, travel & touring. We had a long day yesterday, and Susan and Pascal are waiting for me to get breakfast today, so I’m not going to make it a long post. I’ll just share a couple of pics from yesterday.
Here we are during our first official time getting lost! somewhere in southern PA.

We finally made it to Lancaster, where Gerry met us and led us through and out of town. Thank you Gerry, we couldn’t have found our way out without you!

The rest of our ride was rainy. And I mean rainy. Rainy and cold and foggy and cold. We cut our day short in Hazelton, PA, 27 miles short of our original goal, but we all felt it was the right thing to do. 183 miles down!

We’re waiting for the rain to lighten up a bit before we set out this morning. Luckily, it seems that heading north will bring us warmer, dryer weather.
P.S. Elaine, do you see your carnation on my scooter?

Looks like y’all are having fun! I hope you don’t get lost again and the rain holds off. Stay Safe!!!
My longest haul in one day was about 28 miles! I can’t imagine what 183 miles in the rain and chilly air must feel like! Glad you had the sense to stop when you did, though it sounds like you all are happy and having the fun only a road adventure can give. I should have loaned you my road GPS! You’d never be lost. Sorry I didn’t know you needed it!
After today, Tuesday, the forecast is perfect for you. Clear, dry and not too hot. Wishing you all a good ride every day and a safe one.
Yes I do, it’s beautiful!! Thank you, be safe stay dry and have fun.
Rain or not; you look like you’re having a great time. Some of my greatest adventures have been when I was lost. Good luck with the rest of your journey.
What a great start! Hopefully now that you’ve gotten the yuckie weather experience out of the way the rest of your trip will be memorable in only the best ways possible!
If you had to get lost, at least you picked a beautiful area to do it in!
