Joe Rocket Atomic JeansOK, Lisa, here’s your picture.

The medium Joe Rocket Atomic Jeans showed up, and they fit perfectly, even with hip padding installed (like I need more hip padding! oh well, all in the name of saftey…). If you didn’t see the previous follow-up post, I wasn’t the only one who had trouble fitting into these pants, which was sad because they are at such a terrific price.

I was worried that going a size up would make the pants too long. The length doesn’t seem to be a problem, considering I have a short inseam. It bunches a little while standing, but covers well when riding - which is what they are suppose to do. The knee armor even seems to be where it is suppose to be; that can be a problem in some pants I’ve tried (here’s my how-to-fix article). Women with longer legs may want to double check the leg length to make sure they are long enough when riding on the scooter.

So, the Atomics are back to being a good deal - and New Enough has been getting high scores from other women who have had problems with fit, accommodating returns and helping with finding the right sizes. I’m even thinking of getting another pair. Olive goes with pink, right?

It’s good to here they came through for you. I got this automated response from New Enough on Friday:

    Dear New Enough Customer:

We’ve successfully received your request to return merchandise.

We’ll be in touch shortly with details on what you need to do to complete the
    return.

    Many thanks for your business…
    The New Enough Team

And I haven’t heard anything since. I might be being impatient but when you buy your lady some pants and…

  2. 2 Crystal

MO - did you write directly to Daniel? daniel@newenough.com - try that. Of course, they may be kind of overwhelmed with everyone returning pants.

  3. 3 MO

Yeah, I figured they’d probably be overwhelmed. I love the men’s pants and the women’s were exactly what my wife was looking for, just one size too small…

  4. 4 Lesley Speller

Those are great looking pants, and they look fabulous with the pink tee. Don’t you know everything goes with pink? ;) It’s the new black!

  5. 5 Lisa

You look like a happy customer in that photo. Thanks for taking it! We’ll do almost anything to save 10 bucks, won’t we, LOL?

  6. 6 Denise

Gosh, Crystal, the pants look a lot better on you than they did on the New Enough website! Maybe I’ll order a pair after all . . .

Lesley, I thought black was the new black. :D

  7. 7 Crystal

    Thanks for the compliments!

Denise, I think you’re right, that black is the new black. And green is the new pink. Or something along those lines. :-)
Remember, if you get these (or anything from New Enough) get your picture taken and send it in with a testimonial for a $10 gift certificate toward a future purchase.

  8. 8 Tricia

Yay. I am so glad you got them and like them. I loved mine and felt bad for you that they didn’t work the first time for you.

  9. 9 Denise

Okay, I’m ordering a black pair right now. If they fit (and I don’t feel like a total dork in them), I’ll get my pic taken on my scoot in the pants and will send it to New Enough.

Wait a minute. Are they posting the pix on their site? In that case, I may prefer to forego the $10.

  10. 10 Susan

Denise– you have to wade through a bunch of photos– to see it…It doesn’t appear on their home page or any place prominent.. I even sent in a photo of me in my Joe Rocket Reactor jacket a couple of years ago :”>

Now I am thinking–should I get the next larger size and just bunch them up at the knee??

  11. 11 MO

Just an FYI - I still haven’t heard anything back from New Enough. I’ll call there Monday if I don’t hear something soon.

  12. 12 Denise S.

Got ‘em last week. They fit reasonably well, and I’m not totally embarrassed to be seen in ‘em. My favorite part is the knee padding — it’s nice and cushy, and is particularly helpful when I need to kneel down to lock my scoot to something.

  13. 13 Maggie

I got my 2 pair of Large black un’s last week and while being a little baggy in the legs the waist/hips are just right. I used a tape measure —- it’s more reliable than their table which would have me believe that I would have been fine ordering a Medium. Length was fine but I’m 5′9″.

In a fine twist of fate, I actually had an accident my first time wearing the pants. I believe they saved me from a much sorer hip. I wish I had had similar armour in my jacket, my shoulder might not be so sore! Now I’m lusting after one of those flashy Corazzo 5.0 jackets..

  14. 14 Crystal

Maggie - I’m so sorry to hear of your accident!! Glad you had the pants on, though. Maybe while you’re waiting to get a Corazzo you can get one of those super-on-sale mesh jackets at New Enough? I didn’t have armor when I was hit, either, and have a permanent disability in my right shoulder.

  15. 15 Maggie

I had to laugh, Crystal, because I’ve JUST left the New Enough site (I’m now addicted) where I ordered the San Jose jacket in White & Silver, some new gloves, and a silver full face helmet to go with the silver Vino. I’m rethinking my half helmet because I don’t know how my chin avoided hitting. Sigh… Still beats riding in my cage. Mesh pants??? Excuse me, there’s shopping to be done!

I was just peeling off my Atomic Jeans after wearing them to scoot to work, and for the first time noticed the tag that says “Do Not Machine Wash. Do Not Dry Clean.” Eek. How do you folks clean your Atomics? Do you actually hand-wash them?

  17. 17 Denise S.

Since nobody seemed to have any thoughts on the how-to-clean issue, I wrote to Daniel at New Enough. Here’s what he said: “You can wash them on the gentle cycle as long as you take out the armor that you may have in there. Just be careful and don’t wash them a lot.”

I would assume that putting them in the dryer is also a no-no.

  18. 18 Crystal

I’ve put a couple jackets in the wash without armor, but they all say to handwash. I’ll handwash if I have the time and gumption to do it, and always air dry. They all seem to dry pretty fast.

  19. 19 Lisa

Glad I checked back to read the washing instructions. I never noticed about the dry cleaning but then again I haven’t worn them out riding yet. It was too wet in June and now it’s too hot to ride much. I ordered two more pairs at the $19.99 price and used my $10 credit.

  20. 20 Steph

I ordered these as well and got a shipping confirmation the same day! Now THATS good customer service! thanks for the heads up on the deal(s). I have shopped at new enough and sandhills based on this site and have been VERY happy with both!

  21. 21 Linda

Hey ladies. What size would you say the XL pants would fit? I wear a 12/14 in jeans and was wondering if these would work for me? I too have ‘large’ thighs so I’m afraid they’ll be too tight!

  22. 22 Denise S.

I wear a 12/14 as well. I don’t have massive thighs, and the XL fits me in a comfortably-snug way. Go ahead and try them, Linda — if they’re too tight for you, I’m sure somebody (i.e. me) would be glad to buy them from you. Plus I’m sure New Enough will be as helpful to you (in terms of exchange or return) as they’ve been to me and everyone else here.
